Yay for Shopping!

So, my birthday was Friday:

(that's me looking thrilled in pj's ready to eat that cake already)

And my birthday present from R was that he was going to take me shopping for maternity clothes wherever I wanted, give honest opinions, and not complain.  Off we go to the mall on a Saturday, which actually wasn't too bad, and hit Gap Maternity.  The department was as big as my closet and they had nothing I liked.  So we walk on to Motherhood Maternity and I start to browse, and immediately start to get upset because I can't find any long inseams anywhere.  Not at Gap, not here, nobody has Long inseam.  It's like tall people don't get pregnant.  This saleslady came over to help and I was almost in tears asking for long pants.  She found me a room and went to town finding me stuff.  I left there with 4 pairs of work pants, some work shirts, maternity underwear, long sleeve shirts and a sweater.  And the entire time R held everything, gave his opinion, asked if they fit, and was the best husband ever  (He hates spending money, going shopping, and watching me try on clothes.)

After Motherhood we hit Old Navy where my mom had given me a gift card for my birthday and again, the section is as big as a closet.  BUT, I got some awesome jeans in a LONG inseam and two more long sleeve shirts.  We left Old Navy, went to Target where I couldn't even find the maternity section and then out to dinner.  After dinner we hit Kohl's where I got 2 more cute argyle sweaters and a short sleeve shirt.  Finally, we went home.  And once we were home I tried everything on again and R cut the tags off everything for me and put it in the wash.  I feel very comfortable that I have enough clothes to get me through my pregnancy, or at least the majority of it.  I might need some capris or short sleeve stuff in March/April, or some fancier stuff for work or parties, but for now I am set.

It's so weird, but R got me a really sweet card and inside he wrote about how this is the last birthday just the two of us and next year he has to get a card to Mommy.  It was so awesome that he thinks of stuff like that.  I mean I am sure that he does, but R is a quiet guy and you are never quite sure what he's thinking.  So to have him know that and then we talked about it last night, our last Christmas and NYE.  And we both agreed that we can't wait to spend it with the three of us all here.  All in all, I have to say it was the perfect birthday.

Happy belated b-day! Sounds like you & I made the same rounds (I went to all those places last Thurs! I agree there wasn't much at Old Navy or Gap, I got a few things on sale.

I bet we had the same saleslady at Motherhood too! I had a very helpful gal, I got a pair of the secret fit jeans, but I'll be going back for lots more stuff. :)

Glad you had a great birthday! I think the Target maternity section isn't really labeled. In the Targets I've seen, it's towards the back of the women's section, closest to the dressing area. I just know b/c I've wandered into it and thought "oh, that's cute" then realized it's definitely a maternity item.

just so you know, when I was pregnant Target didn't really have a section made out for maternity clothing but was in with all the other women't clothing here in KY. All of my cutest maternity clothes came from there and GREAT prices too. Check online too.
